Creating Healthy Habits
A big part of my mission in molding our youth's future involves, creating healthy habits. Creating an environment that gives kids with holes in their after school schedules something positive to do. Healthy habits include making better life choices, spending more time with physical activities and eating smarter.
My Plan of Action
- Be a role model - If I can show children how to eat right, stay active and send a message that good health is important , they'll take notice.
- Keep things positive - Kid’s don’t like to hear what they can’t do, I will tell them what they can do instead. Everyone likes to be praised for a job well done. Celebrate successes and help children and teens develop a good self-image.
- Get the family moving - Encourage families to do more outside. Take walks, ride bikes and just enjoy the outdoors together.
- Encourage physical activity - While every child is unique, it is important to give them space to find out what activities they enjoy. Chances are they'll stick it out longer if they actually love it.
- Stay involved - I will keep up with the children and make sure they are giving themselves the best chance to succeed. Showing the children someone cares about them and their lives.
